Whether you will spend your day brainstorming in an office cubicle, operating a crane, running manufacturing equipment or troubleshooting technical obstacles, at CMC, you'll get the training and support from your team that you need to excel in your role and reach your full potential.What You'll DoAssist maintenance personnel when requested/neededParticipate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety CultureEffectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needsPerform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnelResponsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and proceduresResponsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work areaTroubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with othersUnderstand start up, shutdown, and emergency proceduresConnect Hydraulic hoses and operate the slide gate system to begin castingKeep tundishlip clean to allow molten slag to run offMaintain tundish level as requiredOperate lancing torch to initiate metal flow from ladle or maintain slag-free point of entry into tundishTake steel temperature in the tundishAssist Caster Operators during caster startups, size changes, tundish change outs, and castingSets up and performs operations necessary to cast molten steel with demonstrated proficiency, in operating the strand panel in both manual and automatic operating modes to regulate casting speed drive and spray water flowMove materials and supplies as required using forkliftsStaging caster, LMS and EAF supplies (Electrodes, Alloys for LMS, Stir Rods and thermocouples)Assist with cleaning and filling the tap hole after each heatContinuously monitor ladle casting to make sure steel is pouring properlyWhat You'll NeedAbility to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skillsAbility to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spacesBasic computer skillsDependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needsMust be able to learn quickly and multitaskMust be able to lift up to 50 lbsSome overtime will be requiredWork on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidaysYour Education High School Diploma or GED preferredWe are CMC, a Fortune 500® company at the leading edge of our industry.
